Jeff Kroner, Founder and Director
This is the guy who had the idea in the first place, who got the students interested, who auditioned and selected the members, who spent tedious hours working with the group, hauling sound equipment, arranging practices and gigs. This is Mr. Jeff Kroner.

Mr. Jeff Kroner Mr. Kroner's Story
Jeff Kroner has been a resident of western Pennsylvania all his life. He graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 1985 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Slippery Rock University in the spring of 1991.

Jeff was employed by the Slippery Rock Area School District in the fall of 1992, teaching at the high school and at Harmer Elementary School. His responsibilities included beginning instrumental music, general classroom music, and elementary band and choir.

In the fall of 1993, Jeff joined the Butler Area School District as a full-time elementary instrumental music teacher, and in 1998, he was hired as an assistant for the Golden Tornado Marching Band. Jeff would eventually move on to the Butler Intermediate High School, where he currently teaches Guitar and Music Technology classes, and directs the IHS Symphonic Band and the Jazz Band.

Mr. Kroner is involved in several extra-curricular activities at Butler Area School District. For the past four years, he has served as the Orchestral Director for Butler's All-School Musicals, and in the spring of 2005, he was a member of the orchestra for the Thespian musical, "You're A good Man, Charlie Brown".

In the spring of 2004, Mr. Kroner originated the Tornado Big Band, which provides students in grades 8-12 from the Butler Area's Music Department with the opportunity to perform live music for a Big Band Dance. Students who perform in this group are selected through auditions. In addition to the annual dance, the Tornado Big Band has been invited to play for several community functions, including the Butler County Community College Summer Series, and the Butler Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation Benefit Concerts.

Mr. Kroner has performed with many local bands, including:

  • The Anthony James Band
